PromptSmart alternative for iPhone: 5 teleprompters compared
PromptSmart Pro and PromptSmart+ follow your voice, but neither cuts your video. 5 iPhone alternatives compared on price, accounts, on-device use and auto cut.
PromptSmart is the veteran of voice-following teleprompters, and there are 2 apps under the name. That confuses people, so here’s the split first. PromptSmart Pro is $29.99 upfront with an optional Extended subscription. PromptSmart+ is a newer subscription app at $8.99 a month or $79.99 a year, and it requires an account (both from the App Store listings, checked 29 Sep 2026).
A PromptSmart alternative makes sense if you want a cut take, a lifetime price without the add-ons, or no account. Neither PromptSmart app cuts your video. We make CutKit, so it’s on the list, second, with its weak spots named.

Our criteria
We looked at price, whether an account is needed, whether voice follow runs on the phone, recording quality and whether the app cuts filler words or retakes. Sources are each app’s listing, site or pricing page, checked on 29 Sep 2026. Prices are as of September 2026. “Not stated” means we couldn’t confirm it.
1. Teleprompter.com
If you want the closest replacement in features and a much larger base, this is it. It has 29,009 ratings at 4.76 and runs on iOS, Android, macOS and web. VoiceGlide is its voice-activated scroll. Pro is $19.99 a month, or $7.50 a month billed annually. The free tier is 1080p with a watermark, and 4K without one needs a paid plan.
We couldn’t confirm whether the voice follow runs on the device, and we found no cut. A reviewer on 2026-09-22 wrote that the voice scrolling greatly lagged behind their voice.
2. CutKit
CutKit follows your voice on the phone like PromptSmart+ does, with no account, and it goes further after the take. It cuts retakes, false starts, filler words and long pauses at Natural or Aggressive pace, and you tap to restore anything it shouldn’t have cut. It records 4K, 10-bit HDR HEVC and exports without re-encoding. Pro is $9.99 a month, $59.99 a year or $149.99 lifetime.
The weak spots are real. It’s a TestFlight beta with no ratings, iPhone only, on iOS 27 or later. PromptSmart+ lists 15 voice languages, and CutKit’s cut handles English and French, so we’re not claiming parity on languages.
3. CueFrame
CueFrame is free and small. Its listing says no account, no subscription and no backend, and its site says on-device speech recognition tracks every word. Recording is “1080p or 4K when supported”. It has no auto cut we could find, and 0 ratings. It’s the simplest replacement if you liked PromptSmart’s on-device approach. See CutKit vs CueFrame.
4. Speakflow
Speakflow’s Flow voice scrolling is limited on the free plan and unlimited on Plus, at $19 a month. Studio is $129 a month. It works on desktop, web and phone, and it has script tools with no editing. Its iOS app is new, with 3 ratings. Details are in the Speakflow alternatives page.
5. Detail
Detail has Voice Tracking in its teleprompter and an Auto Edit that removes silences and filler words, which it says has run on your device since version 6.0 (14 Sep 2026). Free with watermarked exports, then 5.83 euros a month or 70 euros a year. We found no retake removal and no stated recording format. 3,795 ratings at 4.55. Read CutKit vs Detail.

The cost of leaving
Be honest about the trade before you switch. PromptSmart Pro has 11,785 ratings at 4.61 and PromptSmart+ has 550 at 4.50, so both have been through a lot of real use. Most of the apps above are younger or smaller than that, and CutKit has no ratings at all.
PromptSmart Pro also costs nothing per month if you skip the Extended plan, and it needs no account. If your script is in English and all you want is a teleprompter that keeps its place, there’s little reason to switch. Go if you’re tired of cutting the takes by hand, or if you want a single native-quality recording without a subscription.
Who should pick which
Stay with PromptSmart if voice tracking in 15 languages matters or you like its long track record. Pick Teleprompter.com for platforms, CueFrame for free, Speakflow for a desktop workflow and Detail for a studio.
Pick CutKit if you’re happy with on-device voice follow but want the video cut for you and a lifetime Pro option. Our roundup of teleprompter apps for iPhone covers more. To try CutKit, join the beta.
