BIGVU alternative for iPhone: 5 apps compared

We looked at price, voice follow, recording quality, cutting and accounts, and every fact below traces to the app’s own listing, site or pricing page, checked on 29 Sep 2026: what it costs and how it charges, whether the teleprompter follows your voice, what quality it records in, whether it can cut filler words or retakes, and whether it needs an account or uploads your video. Where we couldn’t confirm something, we say so. Prices are as of September 2026.

1. Detail

Detail is the closest match to what BIGVU users want, and it’s the one to try first if you like BIGVU’s all-in-one approach. It has an AI Director teleprompter with Voice Tracking, an Auto Edit that removes silences and filler words, multicam, livestreaming and captions in 50+ languages.

It costs less on paper. There’s a free plan with watermarked exports, and Pro is 5.83 euros a month or 70 euros a year. Since version 6.0 (14 Sep 2026), Detail says Auto Edit runs on the device and nothing leaves the phone. What we couldn’t find: any mention of retake removal, a stated recording format or a one-time price. It has 3,795 ratings at 4.55.

2. CutKit

CutKit is narrower than BIGVU on purpose. The teleprompter follows your voice on the phone, it records 4K, 10-bit HDR HEVC in the native camera format, and it cuts retakes, false starts, filler words and long pauses on the device, then exports without re-encoding. There’s no account and nothing is uploaded. There’s a 7-day free trial with a small CutKit watermark on exports, then Pro is $9.99 a month, $59.99 a year or $149.99 lifetime.

It loses on breadth. No captions, no effects, no web app, iPhone only (iOS 27 or later), a TestFlight beta with no ratings yet. If BIGVU’s captions are why you stay, don’t switch.

3. Teleprompter.com

Teleprompter.com is a proper voice-following teleprompter with a big base: 29,009 ratings at 4.76, on iOS, Android, macOS and the web. Its VoiceGlide feature scrolls with your voice. Pro is $19.99 a month or $7.50 a month billed annually, and 4K without a watermark is on paid plans only. Its free tier is 1080p with a watermark.

We found no retake or filler cut on its pricing page. It has trimming, subtitles and audio cleaning. One reviewer on 2026-09-22 wrote that “the voice scrolling greatly lagged behind my voice”, so test that on your own script before paying.

4. Captions

Captions is a cloud editor first. Its AI Trim removes pauses and filler words, and its AI Edit cuts scenes and adds B-roll. It runs on iOS, Android and the web, with 38,132 ratings at 4.75. It needs an account for paid features, and pricing is by subscription and credits: $24.99 a month for Max on its site. We couldn’t confirm voice follow in its teleprompter.

5. PromptSmart+

PromptSmart+ is the on-device voice-follow veteran. Its listing says all of its speech recognition runs on the device, without an internet connection, and it lists 15 languages. It’s $8.99 a month or $79.99 a year, with language packs at $29.99 each. It has no auto cut. It does require a PromptSmart account, and a July 2026 reviewer wrote that the app forces you to sign up. Ratings: 4.50 from 550.
